About Us

THE BRIDE

I (Angie) am finally in my LAST semester of school! I will be graduating in May 2008 as an RN. I am so excited and anxious to be done and begin my career as a nurse. I have enjoyed the learning process and all of the various experiences that I have gotten while in school, but I can't wait to be done with the tests and papers and finally be putting what I've learned to use..and finally getting paid for it! :) While going to school, I am working a few nights a week at Mickey's Irish Saloon (best bar in town!) and spend a good portion of my time there...considering I'm almost part of the Clark family, I figure I should put my time in with the family business :) When I'm not working or buried in the books (which is rare), I am perfectly content spending time at home with Gerritt and Andrew (Gerritt's son). We live simple lives...and it's very pleasing :)

THE GROOM

Gerritt is currently enjoying his time off over the winter during the off-season of concrete. He is still working with his dad for Clark Concrete and they have recently taken on a new adventure and will be diving into the playground building business fully this summer. He is a very hard worker and I admire his dedication and work ethic. During his spare time he can also be found down at Mickey's frequently...(only he's usually not working!) On top of being a hard-worker, he is also an amazing father to his 8 year old son, Andrew. We are lucky enough to get to spend lots of time with Andrew attending his hockey games and just hanging out. He's a little busy-body and keeps the both of us very young at heart.

THE COUPLE

Well...where do we begin?!? Our story goes way back...to just about 11 years ago :) ... Both of us were in 8th grade and on the same 'team.' It all began with a few close friends gossiping like typical teenagers and word got out that we "liked" eachother. I (Angie), was the brave one (kind of) and had one of my good friends find Gerritt in Spanish class and ask him out for me (I'm a chicken, I know!) Anyways, he said "yeah" and we were officially a "couple." He walked me to down to English class and that was the beginning of something great... ...We then spent the next four years of high school loving and hating eachother...it depended on the day :) After graduation we continued to maintain the love/hate relationship and then FINALLY realized what we had together...an un-dying love that continued to grow years and years after first laying our eyes on eachother. Gerritt was always the persistent one..and I made him chase me...and finally, he caught me :) And in a nut shell, that's how we got to where we are today....

THE DAY HE FINALLY PROPOSED....NOVEMBER 20TH, 2007

It was a Tuesday, and it was also my birthday (a favorite day of mine every year!) I was kind of bummed all day because due to my hectic school schedule I had spent my birthday at clinicals and in class from 6am-6pm. It just didn't feel like a 'special' day like a birthday should. Turning 25 is no landmarking day and I wasn't expecting any gifts from Gerritt because we were going to Mexico in a few weeks so it was just like any other boring day...until I got home... I remember pulling in the driveway around 6pm and seeing Gerritt get up from the couch and go into the kitchen. I thought nothing of it at the time. I came in through the front door and he came walking around the corner with a card in one hand, and a rose in the other. (For those of you who know me well, you know I am a card-freak and adore being given flowers...so he was really scoring some points!) I set down my bags and he shoved this rose in my face and handed me the card (note: I didn't even have my shoes or jacket off at this point). I read the very sweet card and put the rose down and finally took a step into the house to take off my jacket and shoes. Before I could get too far Gerritt said to me "I got you a present too"...I asked him why and reminded him that we agreed to no presents because of our upcoming vacation. He replied with "So do you want it?" ...Silly question! Next thing I know, he's down on one knee (in the entry way of our house, still) asking me to marry him!! Truthfully, it's all very blurry in my mind due to my over-excitement. I just remember seeing him get down on one knee, and pull a pretty little box out of his pocket. I made a scene jumping up and down and shaking...so excited I couldn't even cry! After a minute or two (I stopped jumping at this point) and immediately said "I have to call my Mom!"....then Gerritt stopped me and said "Ang...you haven't answered me yet..." OOPS!! Well...that's the jist of it...next came the tears and hours of phone calls. ...And my lame-o, ordinary 25th birthday suddenly turned into the best day of my life...
