My fiance, Marcus, was home for a 2 week leave from his deployment to Iraq in November 2007. We traveled around Wisconsin visiting friends and family and spent time together. One of our stops included a Packer game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. Marcus got down on one knee and proposed to me outside of Lambeau just before the game. He had to return to Iraq a week later, and Marcus will return in late April 2008. Lindsey, La Crosse, Wisconsin Bride - getting married wedding is November 2008
Last summer my boyfriend and I were taking a nap. When I woke up he was gone. Then I called him and he said he had a surprise for me when he gets back. I had no idea what it was. later on in the day he came home and I asked what it was. He pulled the ring out of his pocket and I was totally shocked! I had no idea he was even planning on getting married. And of course I said YES! Tegan, St. Charles, Minnesota Bride

My new Fiancé Kevin put the box & the ring in the Christmas tree. Who looks at the Christmas tree on Christmas morning anyway? I guess not me because I didn't even see it. I have a four year old son and I told him to go wake up Kevin. Kevin was expecting me to wake him up but he got my son waking him up instead. He ended up waiting until all presents were open. He ended up telling me that I have one more present. He told me I have to look for it. I looked at him and asked where it could be, he told you have to find it. Then I looked in the lit Christmas tree and there was my ring. I looked at him dumbfounded and asked him what's this? Duh he says it’s a ring. I started crying and hugged him and he said I guess that's a Yes! My son asked while still opening his presents "Are you getting married†What a Christmas of 2007. One of the best I've had in a long time. Danielle, La Crosse, Wisconsin Bride
My Fience does custom chopping so from spring until fall he is very busy and we don't get to spend much time together unless I'm helping him out. So one saturday afternoon after chopping was over we decided to go out to eat to our favorite resturant. When we were just about to walk out the door and my back was to him he grabbed my hand, turned me around and opened the box and asked me to marry him. It was simple and there was no big production which is exactly what I always wanted. We went to my parents and told them and then to dinner to celebrate! It was wonderful. Christie, Ossian, Iowa Bride, getting married wedding is September, 2008
It was christmas eve and we were letting the kids (6 of them) open a couple of their gifts. well it came to my turn and he had a fake ring in a box with the receipt and i opened it and i said you forgot the box and he said oh that is the wrong one. so he got down on his knee with all of the kids sitting in front of me and he asked me to marry him. then we went to my familys for christmas and took my parents (immediately when we got there) into another room and asked if it would be ok to marry me. Sweet. Lynn, Rushford, Minnesota Bride
My boyfriend took me to the place where we went on our first date (City Cafe) and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Simple and sweet! Cortney, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding is October 2008
We were on vacation and going for our nightly stroll along the lake. There was a band playing music in the background and the boats were all pulled into the harbor with their lights on and a star filled sky above. I was commenting on how romantic everything was with the full moon and the fireworks and he was very quiet...then he wanted to sit down for a rest. We sat down and he started talking about how much he loved me and how much I meant to him and I was nodding along in agreement when he dropped to his knees and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised that I cried and jumped around all at once! It was all so romantic and unexpected but it was perfect!! We set our wedding date and the rest is history:) Anessa, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married August 2008
Proposed on new years night. Kristy, Red Wing, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding is August 2008
We had been in Minneapolis with another couple that day. The guys kept disappearing on "secret missions" all day, so I kind of knew something was up. I'm glad he never considered a career in espionage; I'm sure he'd be in someone's torture room by now! I found out later that they were out getting the ring. He acted like a little kid on Christmas morning the whole way home; I couldn't help laughing at him :) I think he had some plan to make an elaborate proposal, but I think the ring was burning a hole in his pocket. We'd barely made it into the house before he asked me to sit down and talk. We're both very nontraditional, so trying to propose in a a serious fashion resulted in us giggling at one another for the first five minutes. He got through it, though, and even got down on one knee. He was expecting tears, but I was so in shock that it took a couple of hours for it all to sink in. Of course everyone who knew beforehand (which was just about everyone!) had to tease him for not being able to wait more than a few hours after getting the ring! Lorelei, Bride getting married wedding June 2009
We meet threw a blind date threw friends. We were both really nervous about meeting each other. We had been togehter for 2 1/2 years when he asked me to marry him. He asked me infront of a waterfall on our first day of vacation. Katie, Spring Valley, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding September 2009

My boyfriend, now fiance, and I were just hanging out at my apartment on Thursday(2/7/2008) when I had to go to a meeting for my upcoming mission trip to Brooklyn, NY to work with a soup kitchen and homeless shelter. I left for my meeting and my boyfriend and I had plans to meet back at my apartment afterwards to watch a movie together. I called him on my way home and he said he was on his way and would meet me outside my apartment door. I get there, he is nowhere in sight. I call to him saying "I will not come down these stairs unless I see you. I don't want you scaring me again" and still no answer. I figured he just wasn't there yet so I went down the stairs and unlocked my apartment. As I opened my door I just about had a mild heart attack because there was a path of rose petals lined by tea candles leading from the door into my bedroom. As I walked into the bedroom(he is still nowhere in sight) I see a giant heart made of rose petals on my bed with the ring resting right in the middle of it. I stand in the middle of my bedroom completely in shock. He comes out of my closet and says, "do you love me". I answer "yes" and he grabs the ring, gets down on his knee and says "I love you with all my heart. will you marry me?" I start crying and laughing and crying and laughing and saying 'oh my gosh' over and over and answer him with a 'yes'. He slides the ring on my finger and then proceeds to walk me out into the living room, press play on the dvd player and one of my favorite love songs fills the room(When you kiss me by Shania Twain) and we dance. then he sits me down at the dining table and pulls cheesecake(my favorite dessert) out of the fridge. :) it was so sweet and so perfect. I love him so much. Leaanna, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding January 2009
It was Christmas morning and I was getting ready to go to my parents house (which is about 2 hours away) so I was very excited to go, I kept telling Bryan to hurry up quit Lully gagging around. I had just gotten out of the shower and was getting ready , I was in the middle of blow drying my hair when Bryan came into the bathroom and tried to had me a small box with a bow, I had seen that he was trying to say something to me. So I yelled over the loud noise of the blow dryer WHAT I CANT HEAR YOU! After I realized what was going on I shut off the blow dryer and started to cry, all I could say is, what are you doing? He handed me the box and with a crackly voice he said, “ would you marry me, I opened the box and started to ball, He said is that a yes or a no? I said it is a YES! On my 18th birthday I was taken to Gooseberry Falls and proposed to next to a beautiful waterfall. We have now been engaged for 4 years. Katrina, Bride
We've known each other since we were kids, but didn't start dating until we were both in our 30's. It was just before Christmas when he proposed. He said we were going out and to go get ready. While I was upstairs getting pretty, he made a candle light dinner. When I came down, he had all the lights off except the glow of the Christmas tree lights and the candle scattered about the room. We ate a beautiful dinner, then he asked if I would like to dance. We danced until "our song" came on, then, he got down on one knee and asked me if I'd spend the rest of my life with him. He made all of my dreams come true that night. We like to say that we're so in love that we feel bad for other people. That feeling hasn't changed a bit. :) Leanne, Bride
We went out for Valentine's Day/ an Anniversary to the Hubbell House in Kasson. After getting back to the car we decided to exchange gifts. He gave me my gift, inside the box was a teddy bear, on the bear's shirt it read "Will You Marry Me?" i looked over at him and he was holding a ring.... After many tears I responded with an ENTHUSIASTIC YES! Anne, Bride
I suprised Brianna while at a friends house waiting to go to a concert. Damian, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding June 2009
Damian and I were going to a concert in the cities with some friends we haven't seen for a long time. We were getting ready to go, and Damian stood up and told everyone he had an announcement to make. He then got down on one knee and proposed with the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen, in front of all of our friends. We are expecting a baby in April, and are so excited to get married. :) Brianna, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding June 2009
He handed me a card for our 6 month dating anniversary and the words will you marry me were written at the bottom... Katie, Kasson, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding June 2009
Glenn proposed to me while we were ice fishing in our fish house up on Lake of the Woods on January 1, 2007. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Right after he put the ring on my finger, we caught a fish! I guess we got approval from the fish too! Jane, Bride, getting married wedding July 2008
Just before he was about to leave for work at 6:30 am, my fiance tried waking me up from bed. Because I am NOT a morning person, I became very angry at this request. The sun was just coming up, so the room was rather dark. When I sat up and said "What do you want?" he was on his knee and said "Will you be my wife?" Needless to say this changed my bad attitude rather quickly! Brittany, Pine Island, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding August 2009
I had just flown in from studing abroad for a month in Poland and he had come to pick me up in the airport. We were driving home and I kind of noticed that he seemed kind of distracted while driving. We got back to his house and he ran inside to get something I stayed in the vehicle and watched as one of his buddies pulled up behind us. Tony ran out to the vehicle and took off without even saying hi to his friend. I thought that was rather unusual. He took me star gazing, which is something that we hardly ever do, but it is one thing we do together that makes me feel very close to him. Under the stars while lying on our backs he asked me to choose a star to call me own. All of a sudden as I was looking up I saw the ring, "my Star". It was one of the best moments of my life! I never in a million years expected such a sentiment gesture from Tony. I guess that is one more reason to add to the list of why I love him so much. Molly, Millville, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding September 2008
My fiance and his family where all in on the event. I recently graduated from college, and they said they would like to take me out to dinner in celebration. We went to Michaels in downtown Rochester and had our meal. My fiance, his brother, and Dad got up to go look at the pictures in the entry after the meal and before dessert. This only left his mother and myself at the table. She excused herself politely to use the ladies room. My fiance came back to the table and took his seat. Moments later the dessert that was ordered can out as well as a second plate that was set infront of me with the PERFECT engagement ring. Of course I said yes. My fiance's family all came back to the table all smiles (they all knew I would say yes), and now we are trying to make the Happily Ever After come true to our fairytale. Heather, St. Cloud, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding April 2009
I was taking a nap with our new puppy that my boyfriend just bought me. When the puppy and I woke up, my boyfriend went outside to take the puppy out to go to the bathroom. When they came back in I noticed my boyfriend's chain was around the puppy. I tried grabbing the puppy. The puppy thought I was playing and wouldn't let me catch him. (mind you I wasn't really awake yet) I finally caught him and got the chain and as I went to get it off I realized a ring was on it. My boyfriend then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so unexpected. So unique. It was perfect!!! Jessica, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding May 2009
My fiance proposed to me at the Nature Center in Austin. He was holding our 13 month old son, and got down on one knee. It was really sweet!! Summer, Austin, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding May 2009
Over the last 6 months my fiancee and I have been working opposite schedules. Some days I dont see him at all. On valentines day this year, I was lucky enough to see him for a total of 30 minutes. In that 30 min, we also had to pick up his daughter from school. Keeping in mind that we both work jobs that do not allow us to take days off like valentines day, we have never celebrated Valentines day. Well after he got home from work, he acted as if it were a normal day, asking about the morning and such. I was getting frustrated with what I was doing so I was on my way to the fridge for a dose of cafeene when he spun me around, got down on one knee and ask me to merry him. It was so sweet because it was totaly unexpected. He didn't do all this fancy smancy stuff that would have given it away, I still smile when I think about the events in that day. I wouldnt cange a thing. Barb, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding March 2009
Her eyes sparkled at me as her lips curved into a smile as I told her that I was so in love with her. Most of the time, we try to squeeze in meal in Rochester between my busy job as an orthopedic surgery resident at the Mayo Clinic and her devotion to her patients as an internal medicine resident at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, WI. Luckily though, we had managed to get one big getaway this year to Vail, Colorado to hit the slopes with both of our families present and accounted for. We were enjoying our meal with some Cabernet Sauvignon at a posh, yet romantic, restaurant called Sweet Basil in Vail Village. I had told a little lie and said that our dinner at Sweet Basil was at the recommendation of one of my college friends and unfortunately, we were unable to get a last minute reservation for the entire family. She obliged and there we sat, talking about our past 4 ½ years together. That smile I mentioned earlier, turned into a smirk as I told her that I probably would be ready to get engaged in the next 3 years. Yet, she still held my hand and said “I love you†as we shared the most decadent chocolate lava cake known to man. We strolled along through Vail village as we waited for our families to finish their dinner. We came to a picnic bench underneath an enormous tree at the heart of the village adorned with Christmas lights. Being only 3 days before Valentine’s Day, I told her that I had her gift with me. I pulled out a portable DVD player and she looked at me with curiosity. I made her put on the ear phones and started the DVD picture slideshow of all of our pictures together, that I had made, from our first day in medical school to the past weekend when we met with our friends at Whistle Binkies. As the DVD played on, I stood behind her as she held my hand and caressed my fingers. Amidst her laughs and sighs while reminiscing about our wonderful years together, via the aid of some choice pictures, I sent a text message to our families to start heading towards our location and to stand at the ready with cameras armed, they knew all along. As the DVD came to a conclusion, the pictures ended and words appeared expressing my love for her and my devotion to her. The last message said “Turn Around!!â€, which she obeyed, and saw me standing behind the bench with our families present. She looked shocked and walked up to me mouthing “what are you doing?â€. When she came to a halt in front of me, I held her hands and told her that I loved her and that I would make all of her dreams come true. She still looked confused and said, “Oh my gosh, are you really doing this?â€. I saw the tears slowly form in her eyes as I dropped to my knee and asked her to marry me. Passers-by noted the scene and yelled “Say yesâ€, although, I did hear one “Don’t do itâ€. She said yes and the camera flashes went off like we were paparazzi. I put the ring on her finger and we kissed and hugged in the middle of Vail Village. We went to a local lounge and ordered a bottle of champagne (we still have the bottle). I had my parents and her parents write a letter to her expressing their thoughts and joy ahead of time, which I gave to her at that moment. She then knew that I had fulfilled her wish of asking her parents for permission and she cried as she read the note from my parents welcoming her into the family. This proposal is special to me, although biased, because she was ready for it almost 3 years ago. Through all this time she was patient as I worked through my problems and kept her dragging on. She always remained faithful and never pressured me with an ultimatum. She said that she had daydreamed about her engagement from childhood and this was…well, unimaginable. We are both very busy and without much money having devoted the past 27 years of our life to learning the art of medicine to care for our patients. As a resident I hardly make much of a living and live paycheck to paycheck. She deserves the wedding of her dreams, and I could use any help in giving that to her. Thank you for your consideration. Peter, Rochester, Minnesota Groom, getting married wedding May 2009
It was a beautiful day in July and Scott said that we should climb Barn's Bluff. When we got to the top there is a landing with a concrete slab. I was sitting on the edge of it when Scott told me to look over a the bridge (away from him). He then said my name as he was getting down on one knee. He then kneeled on a rock and almost fell over. But i made sure to grab the ring and say yes. We then had to walk back down the bluff. I was shaking so much that I tripped twice on the way down. But we both made it down without hurting ourselves and are very excited about planning a wedding!!! Lindsey, Red Wing, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding May 2009
My high school sweetheart and I have been together for 9 years. We were in Duluth for my 25th birthday. I have always loved walking down my the lake in Canal Park by the lift bridge. It is one of my favorite things to do in the summertime. We went skiing during the day and Mike said he had a surprise for me. I said, "Am I gonna be your wife?" "He laughed and said "no, we are going to stay overnight tonight." I had been a little disappointed that we weren't able to get another hotel booked for that night because there was a hockey tournament in town but he secretly found a hotel and reserved another room. That night he proposed under the bridge and made me the happiest person alive! I was so excited to tell everyone that I knew. We celebrating by toasting with champagne and then went to bed because we were so sore and exhausted from our day on the slopes. The next day I asked if everything went as planned and he said the only thing that happened was that he was so nervous he forgot to get down on one knee!! The ring is beautiful. Emily, Bride getting married Fall of 2008 Wedding
Our son, Zach, had been going with Emily for six years-high school sweethearts. Now both seniors in college, and after many hints from her, Zach decided to propose. He decided to do it when they exchanged their Christmas gifts. Emily's gift was a teddy bear from a diamond store holding satin bag. In the bag was a small box. Imagine her excitement. When she opened it, it was indeed diamonds but not a ring-she found earrings! She had difficulty hiding her disappointment. He had another gift for her and she opened it with little enthusiasm. It was a scapbook. But what a scrapbook! Zach had gone to a scrapbooking store, bought all the supplies, and put together an amazing array of pages of pictures depicting their first six years together. He poetically dedicated the scrapbook to their future. And then, on the last page, complete with all the l;ittle cut-outs that professional scrapbookers use, was a "Marry Me" page. And in the middle was a red silk rose that Zach had carefully inserted a beautiful engagement ring tied with a white ribbon. It was the most romantic proposal we had ever heard of and we are now planning a huge and romantic wedding to be held on Valentine's Day of 2009. Deb, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding February 2009
My fiancee came home with a bottle of wine and made me dinner. After dinner we sat and talked and at a quiet moment he pulled out the ring, got down one knee and asked me to marry him! Melanie, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding June 2009
Nate isn't exactly the obvious-romantic type. For Valentine's Day, Nate had to work so we spent the day at Menard's with lunch at Chipolte. I was teasing him for weeks for his terrible date. One Sunday night we had gone to Buffalo Wild Wings for appetizers and Nate mentioned that we had to go on a date to make up for V-Day. "someplace Nice." I almost fell off her chair, Nate doesn't ever choose to do "nice." Anyway, all week he was constantly reminding me that we had a date, and to make sure I dressed up. The night before I had gotten a fever and was extremely sick. I spent the day/night in bed trying to feel better. The one question Nate asked was: "Will you be able to make our date tomorrow?" It was the last of my worries. However, it must have been a 24-hour bug, b/c I was fine the next day. I was able to go on the date and when we walked in Nate had a "quiet" table reserved in a very peaceful, romantic restaurant. There were candles lit, a bottle of wine, and live acoustic background music. Throughout the date I knew something was up, Nate was acting kind of weird... Just when I completely forgot about his awkward behavior, he pulled out a ring and said two words: "Marry Me?" I was in so much shock I forgot to say yes for a few minutes. Then I realized he hadn't moved and was still holding out the ring. I then said yes and Nate sighed relief. Laura, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding June 2008
I was checking my stocking on christmas eve and found a koozie cup. I thought, awesome a koozie cup, I love these! But then I turned it around to see that it was from a jewelry store. I was confused. I looked up and Andy had the ring. I don't remember much after that! Britney, Eitzen, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding September 2008

We went to Wisc dells and there I asked him to marry me while we were staying at a bed and breakfest. We decided to go there that weekend because I would have been having a baby but I didnt cause I lost the baby at 4 months along so I decided that I wanted something good to come out of that date instead of dwelling on something that was out of my control. Jackie, Dover, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding June 2008
The day after Thanksgiving we were loading wood in the fireplace in the basement. After the fire was started we were sitting there watching it burn when Wyatt turned to me and said " Will you marry me?" i said are you shitting me. It was Christmas Eve and Jake (my fiance) gave my parents a gift and it was a box of kleenexes and than he proposed than! Tiffanie, Winona, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding February 2010
He proposed on my birthday. I was home with my oldest son because he was sick and ended up being sick as well. I was unpacking some boxes when he got home (we had just moved three weeks prior). He handed me a present. I wasn't stupid I knew it was a ring, I just didn't know it was THE ring. I was in such shock I never even heard his proposal. He jumped in the shower and I frantically called my mom so confused. I didn't know if I was engaged. We were on our way to dinner when he told me I had the ring on the wrong finger. So then we talked and I confessed that I didn't know it was an engagement ring and he told me what he had said when he gave it to me. I felt so stupid I didn't even know he said anything. Melissa, Kenyon, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding August 2009
My proposal story is not so wonderful like some people talk about, but for my boyfriend to get down on his knee and ask me to marry meant more to me, then if he were to go all out. I would love him the same no matter how he proposed to me! Amy, Bride getting married wedding 2009
Chris proposed to me at a restaurant near his cabin in Wisconsin. The server brought out a rose a a ring box. He got down on one knee and the whole restaurant cheered! Kristen, Bride getting married wedding September 2009
My proposal was photographed at the top of the mountain at Vail and has been viewed over 600 times on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARH0PActL1c. My family goes on a ski trip to Colorado every year. This year my boyfriend came for the first time. He is a photographer and one of his colleagues happened to be in Vail at the same time. Matthew took a day off from skiing to go take pictures with his friend/colleague Tim. When I was done skiing we went to the top of the mountain to take a few pictures. It turned out that Tim had flown to Vail just to take pictures of Matthew proposing at the top of the mountain! Elizabeth, Edina, MN Bride, getting married wedding May 2009
We picked the ring out on April Fool's Day, but my fiance refused to bring the ring home that day. The next day he was on his way to get it and his car broke down, so I had to leave work early to pick him up and take him to get the ring. We then went to my parents house so he could ask my Dad's permission. He told me he wasn't going to give it to me for a couple of weeks. Later that night I was getting ready for bed and the ring was sitting on my pillow. He then got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and asked me if I would do the same. Of course I said YES!! The first week in December of 2007, my fiance had made time to go Christmas shopping, by himself. I knew he was just going to be shopping in our small town stores, but I wasn't sure how 2 hours could go by wihout him coming home yet. Finally, I get a phone from him saying he'll be home in 2 minutes and to hold the door open for him, his package is heavy. I see him heading towards the house with a box about 2' high and 3.5' wide. I'm thinking, 'what the heck is in that box?!?' From that day till Christmas day I was curious what was in the box. I tried lifting it, but I swear he box weighed a ton! His cousins said he bough me a bunch of clothes and shoes. Boy were they wrong! First thing in the morning Christmas day my fiance wraps his arms around me and say, 'Good Morning beautiful. Merry Christmas!' and gently kisses my forehead. Then he takes my hand and takes me into our dining room where our tree and gifts had been. He knew I wanted to open gifts the coming up weekend with our family there, but he said this gift was something he'd rather have me see use sooner than later. I sat down on he floor and slowly started to open my giant box. I looked inside and there was small sabs of concrete in the box. No wonder it was so heavy. In the middle of the all the concrete was another box. I opened that one to find another box. I looked at him like, Oh my Gosh this better be the last box, and all he said was, 'Life throws you many surprises, now open this box and see what life has in store for you next.' So i opened the box and I noticed it had our towns jeweler sticker on it. Inside the box was the gorgeous ring I wear today. And then my fiance got close to me and held me tight, then asked me to marry him because I'm the love of his life. And obviously i said YES! We went on a hot air balloon ride and he proposed to me with a gigantic ring over the mississippi river. Brantly, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding August 2008
We had just got back to my parent's house from an amazing family vacation up north. Me and Peter were hanging out in my room saying our good byes before I had to leave for work. I went into the bathroom to fix my hair. When I came back into my room I sat on my bed next to him. He said, "Jess I really love you and want to marry you." I didn't think this was too much out of the ordinary because we had talked like this many times before. Then all of a sudden, he pulled out the ring and said, "Jess will you mary me?" Of course, I said yes! Jessica, Eyota, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding October
He surprised me by proposing in the bedroom while I was straightening my hair. I heard him enter the room and I turned around to find him on one knee as he "popped the big question." Samantha, Plainview, Minnesota Bride
My finance propsed to me by writing a letter for me to read that was entitled What Do I Think of Love? In the letter he talked about how we first met and how much he loves me and how he can't imagine not having me in his life. At the end of the letter he wrote Natasha Ann Gavin will you marry me and when I looked up from reading the letter he was down on one knee and had the ring out for me. Friday, February 22nd, 2008 (just one week before I had sworn to ask him myself!). It's about 10:30 am and Jeff and I are busy at work (emailing each other) when Jeff tells me he found out there was a wedding show in Dodge Center that ends at 5:00 pm and that we should go. I repeatedly tell him I can't get off early because there's no one to cover in the office. He repeatedly begs me to ask my supervisor and when I finally did, she, to my surprise, said they could cover for me! (Turns out Jeff had already called her and asked her if I could leave early) So he picked me up at 3:15 and we drove to Dodge Center. After taking the wrong turn off the exit, away from Dodge Center, I see a sign for the Dodge Center Airport and immediately start laughing, because, come on, an airport in Dodge Center? Population: Like 7? We make fun of it for a while and then he decides to stop there and ask for directions. I immediately slink down into my chair, embarrassed that he's going to go to a deserted airport for directions to a wedding show! So after he's been in the airport for a few minutes, he calls me needing help getting directions from the guy in the airport so I come in all prepared with my notebook and pen. As soon as I walk in, the "direction guy" is walking out. "So Jeff already got the directions I guess, so can we go now?" I think to myself, a little frustrated. But he keeps awkwardly stalling and I keep getting more and more upset because the shows about to end and we're still sitting in this tiny airport! He then tells me he doesn't feel well and doesn't think we should go to the show anymore. Then I just get pissed! He drags me out of work when I told him I didn't want to leave in the first place and instead of going to this show, we are STILL sitting in this fricken airport! He keeps asking me out-of-place questions like "If I get sick would you always take care of me?" and "Do you want to be with me forever?". Of course I say yes to all of these, but I'm still mad that we aren't going to this show. Finally, he says he needs to sit down because he doesn't feel well and when I look back at him, he's down on one knee, holding the ring in his hand and says "Will you marry me?". When all my thoughts and realizations come together I say something along the lines of "Yes, of course!" We then go outside where there's a huge hot air balloon waiting for us! So, we go on the scary, frigid, fun, exciting and romantic hot air balloon ride to celebrate and finish the night off with Outback for dinner, my absolute favorite! Sergio and I had only been dating a short time when we decided to take a cruise in the Carribean. We set sail in March of 2007 which will be a vacation I will always remember. Sergio and I visited St. Johns Antigua and went on a catamaran sail and snorkeling excursion. We stopped at a private island called "Bird Island" where we could swim, eat, or hike. Sergio decided that we should take a hike. I kept wondering why he was making me hike a mountain in flip-flops and a swimming suit on and I was to find out very soon. After hiking the mountain we were at the top of the island where Sergio proposed and of course I said yes! The mountain that we climbed was really rocky so he did take the ring and hold onto it until we got back down. It was a vacation and a day that we will always remember! My fiance and I love to go snowboarding. So one Saturday we were out snowboarding with two of our best friends. On one of the hills my fiance went down the hill first, I followed, and he "pretended" to fall (so he says). So I went over to him and stopped where he was to see if he was ok. He started telling me that he loved me so much and couldn't imagine his life without me. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, because he loves everything about me. He had his bindings on done, which I never noticed, got on one knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket, and asked me to marry him. Of course I screamed yes! Our friends knew about this the whole time, and were able to get some pictures has they were going down behind us. It was a perfect day! Josie, Rochester, Minnesota Bride
Aron planned with my sister to hold a surprise birtday for me while we were all together at her home. It was actually my niece's first birthday and 2 1/2 months after my own. Si I was surprised by the birthday party and so we all, my parents, my sister and her husband and daughter and Aron went out to eat. When we came back we were all lounging in the living room when Aron got down on one knee and proposed in front of my family. I was in complete shock as we had already been together for 7 years and was never expecting any sort of surprise proposal. Julie, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding August 2008
Couple days before Christmas, we were really busy so we opened presents early and he gave me a card with the picture of the ring and he got on his knee and asked will you marry me? shaking like a leaf. I responded is that really a question? and said yes! Then we went to pick up the ring at the jewelers where it was getting set. Pamela, Rochester, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding August 2009
Steve, my boyfriend at the time, brought me to the first spot we had ever hung out. We were in his truck. He flipped on the dome light, looked me in the eyes and told me, "It has been an amazing 2 years, Amanda, will you marry me?" I instantly started crying as this was a huge surprise and I was so happy! He even brought on a few tears. Of coarse I said yes! Amanda, Dodge Center, Minnesota Bride, getting married wedding September 2008
Well, we had been together for one year to the day, I was eight months pregnant with our beautiful daughter Sophia, it was three days before Christmas. I had decided that day that if he didn't propose to me by Christmas, that I was going to propose to him. So, that day, I went to a jeweler, bought him his ring, and came home to wait. That day, my brother had been at our house and he knew that Jeff was getting ready to propose to me. No one spoke at dinner. My brother was just praying that I didn't propose to him before he me. So, that night, we sat under the Christmas tree looking at the lights, and Jeff asked me to open up a gift box. It was a shirt box or something and I said that I wasn't going to open any presents before Christmas. For ten minutes he begged me to open this shirt box. Finally, he said it would be something that I could wear to work the next day, I caved and opened the box. It was pink silk pajamas. I said, in dissarray, I can't wear this to work, and then he pulled something out of his shirt pocket, opened it up, and said, you no, but you can wear this...a beautiful diamond ring, that he had created himself. I didn't even look at the ring because, like I said, I was eight months pregnant with our daughter and I was just praying that he would ask me to marry him. I said yes, I love you, I thought you would never ask. Then I said, I have something for you. I went downstairs and grabbed the ring that I had just purchased for him and I asked him if he would marry me. We both put on our rings on our one year anniversary. And, then we realized that my brother had been sitting behind us the entire time, not saying a word, just waiting for this event to take place. He had known that Jeff was about to propose to me, and then he knew that I was getting ready to propose to Jeff, and he couldn't speak for a whole day. It was awesome. We have been engaged for one year December 21, 2007, and our wedding date (tentative) is Saturday, March 7, 2009. I know nothing about the process of getting married, I have never pictured myself getting married, or in a white bridal dress, I have never even envisioned myself at my wedding. This will be quite the experience. I pray that I make the right decisions for myself, our daughter, our families and our friends. Wish me Luck!!! He took me to Navy Pier in Chicago, IL and then took me to TIFFANY'S so i could pick out my ring. Sarah
My boyfriend Nate planned a special evening to celebrate our three year anniversary. I thought we were just going to go out to eat. We had an early dinner. He then told me that he wanted to do something that we hadn’t done in a long time. Bowling, I thought. I was thinking I was a little over dressed for this. Instead he drove to the top of a long hill and stopped in front of a beautiful old mansion. He then told me that he had rented the whole place for us to tour alone. I was so excited. I love to tour homes. We took our time going through the house admiring all the beautiful details. The last room to tour was the attic ballroom. He had me wait outside the door while he went in. After a short time the door opened and he came out and asked me to dance. He had changed into dress clothes and had a CD of our favorite romantic songs playing. We danced to a few songs. Then he stopped, pulled a small black box out of his pocket and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Claire
We were out shopping one day and he said to me let's go buy a ring. I said are you serious and he said yes. So we went to the store and purchased the ring. He came back later that day and got the ring and a bottle of champagne and brought it home and got down on one knee and proposed. It was lovely. We both had known for a long time that we were going to be married but had kind of put it on the back burner for a while due to selling our house. So it was a week before Christmas. Nick and I have been together for almost 8 years. Our friends and us decided to go to Cancun for a trip away from the cold weather hear in Minnesota. So we went to Cancun and stayed at Riu Caribe. The second day we were there we ended up going out to eat at the Steakhouse at our resort. Well Nick wasn't feeling well so he went up to the room and came back down to the beach about 1/2 hour later. Said he felt better. So then we went to Greese Lighting show at our Resort. It was a great time. Then we decided to go back down to the beach for it was a nice night and the stars were out, the pariots ships were out on the beach as well. Any way it was getting late so I said are we ready to go up to our rooms. Well of course I was ready and on a mission to go up to the room to play cards. So my friend Jess said come here someone made a nice sand castle. I'm thinking there was some really nice castle. So we went to look at the sand castle. And again I'm ready to go play cards. Then Nick my fiance states on the steps, come here I have something for you. I turn around and he's on one knee asking me to marry me. Well being that we have been together for almost 9 years we had picked out rings and he made the purchase, a couple of years ago. So I was thinking it was the same ring I had chose. Come to find out he went and bought another ring for he couldn't find the keys to the safe. So I was worried all along that the keys were lost. But when we got back home there they were right where they were suppose to be. Oh well I guess that's what I get for waiting almost 9 years. It was a suprise needless to say, no one back home knew that he was proposing, so it was a complete supprise when we got back home. Janel, Zumbrota, Minnesota
