We’ve found 5 common body types and dresses that fit them best.

1) A-line for everyone.

These gowns are the most common and most flattering among the majority of women.The suttle neckline is flattering for every bust.  This silhouette defines the waistline and the A-line skirt is fabulous in that is hides flaws and enhances your curve appeal.

2) Curvacious

Your hour glass figure is an asset that you should embrace. Some of the best styles include the mermaid-style or a dress with a lower waist line that hits below the hips. This will accent your curves while still allowing you to move and enjoy the day. Another great feature to look for is the sweetheart neckline which has a neckline similar to your curves and accents the beauty of your body’s natural curves.

3. Pear-Shaped

For women with pear-shaped bodies the perfect dress is a balancing act. The waist line is a key accent area. You can’t go wrong with a strapless or V-neck dress with an A-line skirt. Try empire waistlines or a fitted bodice to suit your shape best.

4) Tall and Skinny

If you want to steer attention away from your height, add some volume elsewhere. Choose a dress with a high neckline and a sleek silhouette, or opt for the voluminous ball gown. Both of these offer options that won’t overload your frame. Stay away from any hair pieces that will add additional height. Choosing gowns with a shapely silhouette will keep your height in check.

5) Apple-Shaped

If you are in this category, search for styles that have distractions around the waist or accent a neckline. You’ll find a V-neck or plunge neckline more flattering. An empire waist works well and draws attention from your top, as do strapless and scoop necklines. Balance your wide bust with a full skirt. Look for a dress with a narrow bodice and soft necklines. Show off your gorgeous legs, arms and hips.

• Choosing your wedding party like every other component must fit your style, budget and the type of ceremony that you’re planning. There are some important points to consider when choosing your wedding party. They can all be invited to your wedding but choosing the wedding party can make (or break) your wedding day.

How soon should I choose my wedding party?

As soon as the engagement is announced, your closest friends will be wondering. The sooner the better. Another HUGE point is that they will be your support through the whole process. You will need them to perform essential tasks such as helping you shop for your wedding dress and planning your and bachelor and bachelorette parties.

How many attendants should you choose?

This is where your budget and desired ceremony outcome, come into play. If you are wanting a small, intimate ceremony, than a best man and maid-of-honor will do. The typical guideline to follow is one pair for every 35-50 guests.

Another consideration is to be aware of the costs associated with a larger number of attendants, like bouquets, jewelry and gifts which are typical to give. Transportation considerations might need to be made with a larger group as well.

If you have a larger tight-knit circle with a budget to support that group, then get ready for a big celebration and enjoy!

Engagement Party/Wedding Party

After you have made your selections, a great way to get the ball rolling is to invite them all together to get introduced if they haven’t and to give them an idea about what they have to look forward to.

Get them together for a lunch, cookout or another social gathering where you can socialize but sit down and talk. Be sure to THANK THEM for agreeing to be part of your cerermony, and let me them know how you see them fitting into the wedding. Once you’ve got their attention, share your wedding vision with them and discuss your expectations from them. Be CLEAR, NOT BOSSY!

How can I have people involved but not in the wedding party?

There will be some awkward situations, or possibly friends or family that felt they should have been in the wedding party but find creative ways to get them involved. Our wedding including my dad (former pastor) as 1/2 officiant, our daughter as flower girl, my mother as the piano player (her passion) and father-in-law doing a performance. We also had others in the family doing readings and songs as well. We wanted our close family to feel involved. The best thing is to give them a task but in a way that adds value to your wedding that they feel they are contributing.

 Other roles includes ushers, personal attendants, and so forth.

For the sake of helping yourself plan or having a wedding planner, here’s a couple of ways to make the process a little easier on everyone, including you!

1) Knowing what you REALLY want!

Not want you think you should want, or what your mother would like, but what things would really make or break your day. Thinking about some of your likes and dislikes before hand, will make the whole process a lot more clear.

2) Be clear about what you want

Sit down before you get started and write things down that come to your mind about your wedding, in no particular order. NO broccoli anything, fluffy dresses, chicken dance..etc. Get as many of your likes and dislikes out on paper BEFORE you start organizing any of your thoughts

3) THEN organize!

            Once you’ve got all your ideas out in front of you, you can begin to organize. Get a new piece of paper and categorize the parts of your wedding. Wedding Dress, Reception, Food, Transportation, Entertainment, Ceremony, Flowers, Invitations, Beauty

Use your list and put them under corresponding categories. EX. No Chicken Dance goes under entertainment

Once you’ve got a better idea of what you REALLY like and don’t like, planning the wedding or bringing your ideas to a wedding planner will start out more smoothly.
