Local Companies help local organization

Year after year, Go2Wed.com has saved a special place in their hearts for the children of Team 25. Our annual bridal show proceeds are donated to the Shjon Podein Childrens Foundation to help improve the quality of life of youth with extraordinary circumstances. Started by a Rochester, MN native, Shjon Podein and his Team 25 family are dedicated to helping kids out there who need it the most and by ‘Family’, they mean everyone involved. This organization brings everyone together at least once a year to see how the kids and their families which is just a small reason why this organization makes a BIG difference in the lives of the people they help.

Sunday night we were given the opportunity to really see all the wonderful things this team does for it’s “family”. As part of an annual tradition, the former NHL star Shjon Podein heads up a huge fundraiser that pulls in supporters from all over the country! With celebrity guests like Brad Paisley and Nicole Sullivan, and auction items that included sports memorabilia and fantastic trips, this event was all the buzz in this community. The 13th annual Celebrity Party and Concert was held Sunday night at the Rochester Event Center.

The evening included great food, a silent and a live auction and a concert by Minneapolis artist G.B. Leighton. Sponsors like the Go2Wed member Canadian Honker and Pepsi of Rochester, as well as Clear Channel Radio played a huge role in the success of this event.

The event raises thousands of dollars to help kids with disabilities, as part of Shjon’s TEAM 25 CHARITY organization.

It’s a huge event every year for this community and for the former NHL star. An event and organization that the Go2Wed team is proud to be a party of.

Diamond Dash winner receives a $15,000 ring

It was a mad dash…..for a $15,000 diamond ring from R.F. Moeller Jewelers “lost” somewhere in Minneapolis! Over 300 teams took off from Loring Park in Minneapolis in hopes they could gain enough points by running all over Minneapolis solving clues.  All they needed was a phone to play and some text savvy. They traveled by foot, by bike, and even by rollerblades and scooters, but the best way to beat the crowd in this high tech adventure was to answer fast and right!

With a variety of sponsors including members of Go2Wed, Star Limo and Buttercream, teams completed challenges and answered trivia to move them throughout Minneapolis. Upon having to find “the FIRST Basilica located in the United States” they arrived at our challenge location, the St. Mary’s Basilica. Here they “Raced to the Altar” where one partner would drop to one knee for a proposal. Some couples re-pledged their love, some vowed to be friends forever, and for the guys who haven’t been down the rode yet, we watched squirm as they blew past the words to complete the challenge. After the challenge was complete, they were given their keyword “I do” which was used to get their next clue. And off they went.

Twin Cities Diamond Dash Winner

It was a fun-filled, and might I add rainy day, but it all ended well at Bootleggers in Minneapolis where the dashers congregated to enjoy food from CRAVE and drinks as they awaited the results.

The top 5 teams all received prizes including Minnesota Twins tickets, a pair of his and hers watches, and $1,000 gift certificate to R.F. Moeller. The winner of it all, flew down the stairs from the second floor when he received the phone call that he was the winner!
