When a girl accepts the task of being a bridesmaid, she does it under one condition……planning the bachelorette party. This is there opportunity to make the cost of the dress, and all the wedding tasks worth while. Where bachelorette parties used to be a gals “last fling before the ring”, they have more recently morphed into an all out vacation of fun. From trips to Theme Parks to Vegas, or Spa Weekends and relaxation, bridesmaids have been taking things one step further.
Featuring our guest blogger Holly who recently experienced the ride of her life at her surprise bachelorette party.
“I just got back from a fabulous weekend in…. Colorado! My bridesmaids decided to throw me a surprise bachelorette party; the only thing I knew about it was which weekend it would be. Trust me – I tried getting information from everyone! Thursday night rolls around and Bridesmaid B is at my house packing my things (with a little help from me). We get to make a trip to the store for some mysterious shoes – she wouldn’t let me go in with her AND she won’t let me see them. Early, early, early next morning – in the car driving to the Minneapolis airport to “pick up” Bridesmaid K; but we have to park and bring our luggage in? Ah ha – we are going on a plane – that much I figured out! Fast forward to the Denver Airport where I am told we are meeting Bridesmaid K to catch a connecting flight (yeah right! I don’t believe a word that is coming out of her mouth…) Bridesmaid B gets the phone call that Bridesmaid K is off the plane and off we are to find her. Only she is in the car with my mom! Great surprise! Road trip from Denver to Estes Park Colorado – with apparently more surprises left. Next morning – remember those mysterious shoes? I got to see them – they were water shoes…. What a weird thing to need in Colorado. That is – unless you are going white water rafting!
We went on a half day trip down the Cache LaPoudre River which was quite eventful and included a giant amount of water in the face, a frigid ‘swim’ down the river when our raft hit a bridge and dumped everyone out, a face-to-face encounter with a rattlesnake when getting out of the water after that swim, and tons of laughs. We left Colorado with enough stories to last a lifetime as well as a plan to do it again next year! The best thing about this bachelorette party – the uniqueness and that nobody that I know has ever done it before!” –Holly the Bride
