I’ve been missing in action preparing for a marriage conference.  If you want lots of resources, articles, tips, interesting factoids, check out www.smartmarriages.com.  They have a conference every year with the “whose who” of the marriage field.  People we’ve all heard of like John Gray from Men are from Mars, When are from Venus.  Last year the famous motivational speaker Tony Robbins spoke.

Anyway, I’ve been reading this year wedding budgets have dropped for the first time.  Industry insiders call weddings “recession proof” but alas, when we spend too much filling up our cars, it hits the bottom line!

I think about this marriage conference - over 2,000 individuals, from all “roles”, marriage therapists, religious leaders, mentor couples, people who work for agencies.  They all come together to learn about marriage, get new skills to pass on to couples.  And yet most people have never heard of “marriage education”.  That’s what this conference is about.  You should not wait 7 years (the average) before seeking a counselor.  Imagine if you had some tooth pain and waited 7 years?  Imagine how much less pain you could have been in and how much less work it would take to fix?

As everyone goes to weddings as guests, and has their own, my hope is that you witness or participate in the once-in-a-lifetime event that weddings are meant to be.  There is nothing more exciting than going to a wedding were you have absolutely no doubts these people will be together FOREVER.
